Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) is an instite which has evolved through important processes since 1926, and has been in a constant endeavour to upgrade its scientific and technical quality to the standards of developed countries of the world in this area, and to improve Turkey's contemporary statistics structure.
The Institute, by the No. 5429 Turkish Statistics Law and No. 4 Presidential Decree, is the producer and coordinator of the country's official statistics. Since its establishment, taking into account of national and international users' needs and priorities, TurkStat has made this its mission to produce quality, timely, reliable, objective and appropriate statistics in compliance with the international standards. 

Performance programmes are the framework for determining the annual activities of Strategic Plans prepared in a holistic approach in line with our country's Development Plan, Medium Term Programmes and Annual Programmes. In this context, our Institute regularly prepares the annual performance programmes which comprise the resources required to carry out to produce internationally comparable statistics which our country needs, performance targets and indicators. The Institute's Performance Programmes show the statistics production activities to be carried out in a fiscal year and the resource requirements as neccesitated by these activities, the level of realisation of the activities in terms of quantity, quality, result and effects, and with which criteria these levels will be evaluated and measured, and constitute the basis for the preparation of annual reports.
