Census on population and landed property was conducted in order to gather information on agriculture land.
Defterhane was founded
The first successful population census was carried out.
In accordance with the "Regulation of the Bab-i Ali Statistical Council", legal status was given to all statistical services with the establishment of a Central Statistical Council.
With a new law, all statistical services were gathered within the Statistics Department. After a year, the law abolished.
Central Statistical Department was established in line with the Presidential Decree as of 26 April 1926, numbered 3517.
The First population census was conducted after proclamation of the Republic. The law on building numbering and naming streets was put into force.
All duties and responsibilities of Central Statistical Department were reorganised, and the name was changed as Public Directorate of Statistics.
The organisational structure of the Department was changed as general director, advisory, assistantship and ten divisions.
Regional Offices and Price Statistics Division were established.
The name of the Institution was changed as General Directorate of Statistics.
With a law, it was decided to conduct general population census and general agriculture census in the years ending with (0) and general business census in the years ending with (1), every ten year. Analysis and Research Department was established.
The name of the Institution was re-changed as Public Directorate of Statistics.
According to the law, it was decided to conduct general population census in the years ending with (0) and (5), general agriculture census in the
years ending with (0) and general business census in the years ending with (1).
With this law, penal sanctions were put into force for persons who does not taken reponsibility without any acceptable reasons and does not give any answers or gives unrealistic answers during general population, agriculture and business censuses.
The name of the Institution was re-changed as General Directorate of Statistics.
The Institution was affiliated with the Prime Ministry,an named as State Institute of Statistics.
The organisational structure of the Institute was restructured.
Some regulations were adopted in order to fulfil current needs and future progressive structure.
With Turkish Statistical Law No. 5429, Turkish Statistical System and th Institute were reorganized. With the new law, the name of the Institute was changed as Turkish Statistical Institute. Turkish Statistical Institute is comprised of the Statistical Council and Presidency of Turkish Statistical Institute.
Some articles of Turkish Statistical Law were rearranged.
Institute's headquarters was reorganised by Statutory Decree numbered 662.
With "the Statutory Decree numbered 703 on the Harmonisation of Some Laws and Statutory Decrees to the Changes in the Constitution", the articles about the organisational structure of the Law numbered 5429 were cancelled and the Presidency of the Institute was reorganized with "the Presidential Decree numbered 4 on the Organisation of Institutions and Organizations attached to, related to and connected to the Ministries and other Institutions and Organizations.
With the changes of "the Presidential Decree numbered 58 on Changing the Decree on the Organisation of Institutions and Organizations attached to, related to and connected to the Ministries and other Institutions and Organizations" organisational structure of the Presidency of the Institute was reorganized and the main service units are rearrenged with "the Regulation on Foundation, Duties and Authorities of Service Units of the Presidency of the Turkish Statistical Institute".
