Introduction

The household budget survey is one of the important sources which provides information on socio-economic structures, standards of living, and consumption patterns of the households, and which is used to test viability of the socio-economic policies being implemented.

With this survey, revealing consumption patterns and income levels of individuals and households by socio-economical groups, rural, urban and regions; it is possible to produce information on consumption habits, types of consumption expenditures and diversity of spending for goods and services on socio-economic characteristics of households, employment status of household members, total income of households, and source of income.

In accordance with the sampling plan of the household budget survey; it is possible to have estimates on Turkey at urban/rural discrimation for the period of 2004-2013 and on whole Turkey beginning from 2014 by using each year’s survey itself and to have estimates on distribuiton of expenditures at regional discrimination (SR level 1 and level 2) by using the combination of each year’s data and last two years’ data.

About to produce estimates at the level of regions from the Household Budget Survey data, whole sample households of 2013, 2014 and 2015 Household Budget Surveys are combined so as to obtain household expenditures for years 2013-2014-2015. Then monthly expenditure values of 2013 and 2014 have been pulled over related months’ price level of 2015. The combined data set of the years 2013-2014-2015, whole data sets of the 2013, 2014 and 2015 Household Budget Surveys contains expenditure data of 31 673 sample households totally.
