History

Family Structure Survey was conducted between 10 June - 08 August 2006 under the protocol between the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) and the Ministry of Family and Social Policies (MFSP). The coverage of the survey is households residing in all settlements located in the borders of the Republic of Turkey and individuals 18 years of age and over living in selected households. The sample size is designed as 14 380 households, which can be estimated based on total of Turkey, urban/rural settlements of Turkey, Statistical Regions (SR)-Level 1 (12 geographical regions) and three selected major provinces (İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara).

Research design of the second Family Structure Survey conducted in 2011 was carried out by MFSP - General Directorate of Family and Social Research and the field application was carried out by ANAR Ankara Social Research Center. The final sampling unit is households and all household members 18 years of age and over in selected households. The sample size is designed to be 16 500 households, which can be estimated based on total of Turkey, urban/rural settlements of Turkey, SR-Level 1 (12 geographical regions) and three selected major provinces (İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara). Field application of the research was carried out between August and October 2011.

Family Structure Survey, which was repeated third in 2016, was conducted between 1 June and 26 September 2016 within the scope of the protocol between the TurkStat and MFSP. The sample size is designed to be 17 239 households, which can be estimated based on total of Turkey, SR-Level 1 (12 geographical regions) and three selected major provinces (İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara). The survey was applied to 35 475 individual who are living with household and 15 years of age and over. Field application of the research was carried out between 1 June and 26 September October 2016.
